The Palliative Volunteers Training Programme was organized by Santhi Palliative Care Unit, Ponnani on 8th February (Thursday) at MI Training College, Ponnani. The programme aimed to create awareness about palliative care and to train volunteers to support patients suffering from serious illnesses. The sessions were handled by Mr. Kareem Vazhakkad (Session 1) and Mr. Haridas Omanur (Session 2), who explained the importance of palliative care, the duties of volunteers, and the need for compassionate service in society. The programme started at 9:00 AM and ended at 4:00 PM, and it was very informative and inspiring for all the participants.
The first session was led by Mr. Kareem Vazhakkad, who explained the concept and importance of palliative care in society. He highlighted the need for compassion, empathy, and dedicated service while caring for patients and their families. The second session was handled by Mr. Haridas Omanur, who focused on the practical role of volunteers and the responsibilities they should undertake while serving in the community. The programme was very informative, meaningful, and inspiring, encouraging participants to engage in humanitarian service with a sense of social responsibility.
