International Women’s Day was celebrated at M I Training College Ponnani with various programmes aimed at promoting women’s empowerment, awareness, and creativity. The programmes were organized by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) in collaboration with the Women Development Cell (WDC) and National Service Scheme (NSS Unit 344). The celebration aimed to highlight the importance of women’s health, equality, and contributions to society.
The programmes were conducted on 9 March 2026 and began with a morning assembly from 9:30 am to 10:00 am. The assembly created awareness about the significance of International Women’s Day and the importance of respecting and empowering women in society.


After the assembly, a Quiz Competition was conducted from 10:00 am to 10:30 am. The quiz included questions related to women achievers, history, and current affairs, which helped students increase their knowledge about the achievements and contributions of women.

From 10:30 am to 10:45 am, a Mime performance was presented by students. Through silent acting, the students beautifully conveyed social messages about women’s rights, gender equality, and the challenges faced by women in society.

The next programme was a Short Film and Video Presentation conducted from 10:45 am to 11:30 am. Students presented short films focusing on women empowerment, gender equality, and social awareness. These videos creatively highlighted the struggles and achievements of women.
From 11:30 am to 11:45 am, the programme “Identify the Person” was conducted. In this activity, participants were asked to identify famous women personalities based on clues and pictures. This programme helped students learn more about inspiring women leaders and achievers.

A Debate Competition was organized from 11:45 am to 12:10 pm. Students actively participated and expressed their views on topics related to women empowerment, equality, and the role of women in modern society. The debate encouraged critical thinking and confidence among participants.

Next, a Treasure Hunt was conducted from 12:10 pm to 12:30 pm, which was an exciting and engaging activity. Participants searched for clues related to women personalities and achievements, making the programme both fun and educational.
In the afternoon, an awareness session titled “Empowering Women Through Health Awareness” was conducted from 1:30 pm to 2:30 pm. The resource person for the session was Dr. Rosni K MS, Specialist Medical Officer (Shreeroga) at Government Ayurveda Hospital. She delivered an informative and inspiring talk on women’s health, hygiene, and the importance of maintaining both physical and mental well-being. The session helped students gain valuable knowledge about health awareness.
After the awareness class, a special magazine titled “She Dicta” was released. This magazine included creative writings, thoughts, and reflections contributed by the students focusing on women’s experiences, empowerment, and social issues. The release of the magazine provided a platform for students to express their ideas and voices as women, making the celebration more meaningful and participatory.

Finally, the programme concluded with the prize distribution ceremony for the winners of the various competitions conducted as part of the International Women’s Day celebration, including the quiz competition, mime, debate, short film presentation, treasure hunt, and other activities. The winners were appreciated and encouraged for their active participation and creativity. The celebration ended successfully with great enthusiasm, leaving a strong message about the importance of women’s empowerment, equality, and awareness in society.
