Introduction
On the occasion of International Women’s Day, a special morning assembly was organized by WDC at M.I. Training College, Ponnani. The event aimed to celebrate the achievements of women and raise awareness about gender equality and empowerment within the campus community.
- Prayer: The assembly commenced on a solemn note with a soulful prayer rendered by Arya, Hana, and Amjitha. Their harmony set a reflective and respectful tone for the day’s celebrations.
- Pledge: To reaffirm the commitment to equality and social responsibility, the college pledge was led by Vidhya (Social Science Option). The students joined in unison, vowing to uphold the dignity of all individuals.

- Holy Thought: Anjana (Physical Science Department) shared a “Holy Thought,” highlighting the spiritual and moral significance of women as pillars of strength and compassion in society.
- Thought of the Day: Aswathy (Mathematics Department) presented an inspiring “Thought of the Day.” She emphasized the importance of resilience and the power of education in breaking the glass ceilings that women face globally.
- Word of the Day: To enhance the linguistic and conceptual vocabulary of the students, Surya Lakshmi(English Department) introduced the word “ Gynarchy” refers to a political system, society, or government ruled by women
- Day Presentation: The highlight of the assembly was a comprehensive presentation by Surya P. (WDC Student Coordinator). Surya detailed the history of International Women’s Day and discussed the current year’s global theme. She also outlined the upcoming initiatives of the Women Development Cell aimed at fostering a supportive environment for female students at M.I. Training College.
Conclusion
The assembly concluded with a message from the faculty Dr silva P WDC Coordinator, encouraging students to carry the spirit of the day beyond the auditorium. The event successfully highlighted the collective responsibility of the teaching community in promoting gender sensitization and empowering the next generation of educators.
