Background
The International Conference on “Transformative Pedagogies: Nurturing Innovation in Teaching and Learning” was organized by MI Training College, Ponnani, Kerala, in collaboration with the Institute Of Educational Technology & Vocational Education, Panjab University, Chandigarh, and Farook Training College, Kozhikode. Held on 1st and 2nd August 2024, the conference aimed to address the rapidly evolving educational landscape by focusing on transformative pedagogies. This event brought together educators, researchers, policymakers, and practitioners from around the world to share insights, strategies, and best practices for innovative teaching and learning.

Day 1: 1st August 2024
Inaugural Session: 10.00 AM
- Prayer: The conference commenced with a solemn prayer, setting a serene and focused tone for the day’s proceedings.
- Welcome Address: Dr. Naseerali M.K., Principal of MI Training College, Ponnani, warmly welcomed the attendees, highlighting the significance of transformative pedagogies in today’s educational context.
- Presidential Address: Dr. Amritpal Kaur, Chairperson of the Institute of Educational Technology & Vocational Education, Panjab University, delivered the presidential address, emphasizing the critical need for innovation in teaching methodologies to meet the demands of the 21st century.
- Inaugural Address: Prof. Nasrin, Professor at the Department of Education, Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh, delivered the inaugural address. She underscored the role of education in societal transformation and the importance of adaptive pedagogies.
- Key-note Address: Although Prof. (Dr.) T. Mohamed Saleem, Principal of Farook Training College, was scheduled to deliver the keynote address, he was absent due to prior commitments. His message was shared with the audience, emphasizing the importance of collaboration and innovation in education.
- Vote of Thanks: Dr. Aseel Abdul Wahid, Assistant Professor at Farook Training College, extended a heartfelt vote of thanks to all dignitaries, participants, and organizers for their contributions to the successful commencement of the conference.
Session 1: Forenoon 11:40 AM – 12:50 PM
The first session of the conference was hosted by Dr. Naseerali M.K. on Platform-1, with Dr. A. Blessingmary, Assistant Professor of Education at Mother Teresa Women’s University, chairing the session. This session focused on the sub-theme “Digital Transformation in Education.” Dr. Kowshik M.C. presented his paper, followed by Dr. Pramod Kumar N., who delved into various aspects of digital education. Dr. Sarita Anand and P. Karkuzhali contributed their insights on the topic, emphasizing the importance of integrating technology in education. Nidhya C.K. and Dr. Rajashree Milind Joshi shared their research findings, highlighting innovative practices in digital pedagogy. Kosaraju Swaroop, along with co-presenters K. Soma Chinna Shekhar and Dr. D. Vijaya Lakshmi, discussed collaborative efforts in digital education. Shivananda and his co-presenter Dr. P.B. Kavyakishore concluded the session with their perspectives on digital transformation, although Sumayya K.T., despite being listed, was absent.
Session 2: Forenoon 11:40 AM – 12:50 PM
Running parallel to Session 1, Session 2 was hosted by Sabitha T on Platform-2, with Prof. (Dr.) Mariamma Mathew, Former Principal of Peet Training College, Mavelikara, chairing the session. This session also focused on “Digital Transformation in Education.” Shaikh Fahemeeda, along with co-presenter Zeba Parveen, opened the session, followed by Jilsha K.P., who explored the impact of digital tools in education. Bhawna Mathur and K.R. Ajitha Shaji presented their work, showcasing the benefits of digital integration. Sanchita Sardar and Soumya Varghese provided comprehensive overviews of their research, while Mamta Anand, with co-presenter Dr. Pulla Lakshmi, highlighted the role of technology in enhancing learning experiences. Mohd Aquib Shah and Sunitha M.S. concluded the session, emphasizing the transformative potential of digital education.
Session 3: Forenoon 11:40 AM – 12:50 PM
The third session, hosted by Ragina Razak on Platform-3, focused on the sub-theme “Digital Transformation in Education.” The session was chaired by Dr. Kalpana Thakur, Associate Professor at the Institute of Educational Technology and Vocational Education, Panjab University Chandigarh. Neelam Bali, with her co-presenter Dr. Franky Rani (not registered), opened the session with a presentation on “Gamification and its Impact on Student’s Engagement and Imagination.” This was followed by Naveena C.S., who discussed the broad implications of digital transformation in education. Adithya Jim, alongside Fahad Ahamed Ameer, presented a study on the effects of digital transformation in management education. Bushra Faridi, co-presenting with Dr. Shahla Shabeeh Shaheen, explored the evolution of educational apps in India through digital transformation in their paper “From Chalkboards to Digital Boards.” Reeja Riyasu concluded the session with a detailed review of literature on how digital literacy defines the self-efficacy of English teachers. Mandeep Kaur presented her paper on the digitalization of education in India.
Session 4: Afternoon 2:00 PM – 3:30 PM
Hosted by Ameen Farook UK on Platform-1, the fourth session focused on “Inclusive and Equitable Education” and was chaired by Dr. Fouzia Shaikh from AMITY University. Mr. Vishal Dogra started the session with a comprehensive study on the prevalence of nomophobia among school students. Dr. Pooja Birwatkar presented her paper titled “Silent Struggles: Are Future Teachers Ready for Invisible Disabilities?” Shaik Gulab Jan, along with co-presenter Dr. Prithi Venkatesh Mondreti (not registered), discussed teachers’ perceptions of assessment procedures for learners with hearing impairments in mainstream classrooms. Nikita Rajput highlighted the role of inclusive language in making classrooms more inclusive, and Deepa M.J. presented on the role of technology in enhancing access to education for tribal students in India.
Session 5: Afternoon 2:00 PM – 3:30 PM
Running parallel to Session 4, Session 5 was hosted by Dr. Naseerali M.K. on Platform-2, with Dr. Mohammad Hasan from MANUU-College of Teacher Education, Bhopal, chairing the session. This session also focused on “Inclusive and Equitable Education.” Rupinder Kaur opened the session with a mixed-method study. Harsha Sharma, along with co-presenter Dr. Latika Sharma (not registered), addressed the social and emotional needs for the inclusion of transgenders in schools. Tarana Anjum presented a study on self-efficacy among preservice teachers towards children with special needs. Muhammed Failurahman Pallikuzhy concluded the session by discussing the need for reformation in religious primary education in Kerala. Jyoti Gupta also presented her paper.
Session 6: Afternoon 2:30 PM – 4:00 PM
Session 6, hosted by Sabitha T on Platform-3, was chaired by Dr. S. Ammani, Assistant Professor of English at BVRIT Hyderabad College of Engineering for Women. This session focused on the sub-theme “Innovative Curriculum Design” and featured insightful presentations on modern educational strategies. Dr. Shalini Rao N presented her paper on the relevance of ancient Indian education systems to the present era, offering the perspective of prospective teachers. Ramesh discussed innovative curriculum design, followed by Sushmitha S. Kamath and her co-presenter Dr. Thara Sebastian (not registered), who assessed multiple intelligences among upper primary school students in Kottayam District. Sandeep Kumar Tomar explored the educational implications of the Happiness Curriculum Project implemented in Delhi Administration schools. Dr. Tarannum Khan compared teacher education institutes’ curricula with respect to the integration of social and emotional learning. Suvarnalata, along with co-presenter Dr. P.B. Kavyakishore, shifted from Session 9, discussed the language creativity of B.Ed teacher trainees, focusing on student engagement and motivation.
Session 7: Afternoon 3:30 PM – 4:30 PM
Hosted by Dr. Ramitha Rahman P A on Platform-1, Session 7 was chaired by Dr. Rishad Kolothumthodi, Assistant Professor of Mathematics Education at Farook Training College. This session centered on the sub-theme “Assessment and Evaluation.” Sanjay Verma opened the session with a study on the prevalence of mathematics phobia among school students. Dr. Veena Khilnani presented her work on enhancing educational practices by integrating holistic assessment and evaluation to achieve course learning outcomes. Linga Venkata Nivas, with co-presenters Dr. D. Vijaya Lakshmi and Aravapalli Balaji Krishna, discussed assessment and evaluation in engineering colleges. Shiva Sharma provided insights into the problems and challenges of using rubrics as an assessment tool. The session concluded with Akshaya E., along with co-presenter Nisha Vikraman (not registered), investigating teachers’ views of early childhood learning outcomes. Mahalakshmi Anand was absent from her scheduled presentation.
Session 8: Afternoon 4:30 PM – 5:30 PM
Session 8, hosted by Dr. Silva P on Platform-1, was chaired by Dr. Umer Farooque T. K., Associate Professor of Education at Farook Training College. This session covered the sub-themes “Teacher Professional Development” and “Innovative Curriculum Design.” The presentations began with Mrs. Neetu Rani, who explored the role of self-efficacy in shaping goal orientation among pre-service teachers through a predictive analysis. Jagadeesha M., along with co-presenter Dr. P. B. Kavyakishore, presented on critical thinking skills in science education through innovative teaching, providing a theoretical perspective. Rabia Ismail, with co-presenter Dr. Savita Sharma, discussed teacher’s professional development in the context of the New Education Policy (2020). Ms. Tasaduk Musood examined the predictive role of self-esteem towards resilience among pre-service teachers. Dr. Birender Kaur explored gender differences in cognitive flexibility among pre-service teachers. The session concluded with Upasna Roy presenting on perseverance and decision-making skills for peacebuilding. Although scheduled, Dr. Abdul Malik presented his paper.
Day 2: 2nd August 2024
Invited Presentation
The second day of the conference began with an invited presentation by Prof. Bed Raj Acharya, Professor of Mathematics Education at the Central Department of Education, Tribhuvan University, Nepal. His talk, titled “Teaching Strategies for 21st Century Learners for Educational Transformation,” started at 10:00 A.M. Prof. Acharya provided a comprehensive overview of innovative teaching strategies designed to meet the needs of 21st-century learners, emphasizing the importance of adaptability and technology in modern education.
Session 9: Forenoon 11:45 AM – 1:30 PM
Session 9, hosted by Muhammed Shareef N.M on Platform-1, was chaired by Dr. Uzma Siddiqui, Assistant Professor at the Department of Education, AMU. This session focused on the sub-theme “Student Engagement and Motivation.” Aleena Johnson, with co-presenter Dr. Roni Jain Raju, presented their research on perceived stress among undergraduate students in Alappuzha District. Parneet Kaur discussed constructivism and student motivation. Bindu Sharma explored pedagogies based on student engagement and learning. Shruthi Nadig presented on student engagement and motivation through the carousel method. Dr. Rubeena discussed brain-based learning and integrating neuroscience into teaching strategies. Harbhajan Singh examined parental involvement and its role in student motivation and engagement. Niya Jelson, with co-presenter Keerthana Mahesh, studied student engagement and motivation using the latest technologies. Sreedev T. E. concluded the session with a presentation on student engagement and motivation.
Session 10: Forenoon 11:45 AM – 1:30 PM
Hosted by Sabitha T on Platform-2, Session 10 was chaired by Dr. Rekha P., Assistant Professor at Farook Training College. This session centered on the sub-theme “Educational Policy and Leadership.” Jijimole Joseph presented on the relevance of pedagogical leadership in the context of school education. Arti Bhatnagar discussed the role of transformative leadership in promoting innovative pedagogy. Acharya Kandarp Umakant explored reviving Indian pedagogy with a SWOT analysis of Panchpadi for the foundational stage. Rajwinder Kaur, with co-presenter Dr. Gagandeep Kaur, discussed the National Curriculum Framework (NCF) 2023 and its vision in the context of NEP 2020. Dr. Kalpana Chavan presented on the perception of teachers towards authentic assessment.
Session 11: Afternoon 2:00 PM – 3:00 PM
Session 11 was hosted by Dr. Ramitha Rahman P A on Platform-1 and chaired by Dr. Reni Francis, Principal of MES’s Pillai College of Education and Research, Chembur. The session focused on the sub-theme “Emerging Trends in Pedagogy.” Dr. Maninder Kaur began with a presentation on “Techno-emotive Pedagogy: A Pragmatic Curricular Roadmap to Materialise NEP 2020.” Ameena Mohamed Ali discussed “Task-Based Learning (TBL) in Listening and Speaking in ESP (English for Special Purposes) among aviation English Students.” Sukhpreet Kaur Dhillon explored the “Learner Centred Pedagogy – Historical Perspective and Future Directions.” Dr. Geeta Pathak presented on “Enhancing Trainee Mathematics Teachers’ Learning through Cartoon Video Making Assignments: A Comparative Study.” Pooja Sharma, with co-presenter Priya, discussed “Emerging Trends in Pedagogy in Context of NEP 2020.” Dr. Santosh Yadav, with Dr. Suni M. Mathew, presented on “Assessing the Effectiveness of ‘Pragna’ Educational Materials in Catering to the Learning Needs of Students with Sensory Disabilities.” Jyothish John Kizhakkethalackal, with Dr. H. Deepa, concluded with a presentation on the “Impact of Problem-Based Learning Approach on Adolescents.”

Session 12, hosted by Ameen Farooque on Platform-2, was chaired by Dr. Afsana Rashid, Assistant Professor at the Media Education Research Centre, University of Kashmir. This session also focused on “Emerging Trends in Pedagogy.” Kalyani Arumugam started with a presentation on the “Hybrid Mode of Education – The Way Forward.” Nishi Gupta explored “Teaching-Learning in the Digital Age: Exploring the Effectiveness of Digital Storytelling Method.” Alka Verma presented on “New Trends in Pedagogy to Develop Learning, Literacy, and Life Skills (Framework for 21st Century Skills, CBSE) inside Indian Classrooms.” Mili Harshadbhai Gondaliya discussed “Reimagining Higher Education through Design Thinking: A Narrative Review.” Anita Sharma, with Dr. Amit Ahuja, presented on “Enhancing Hindi Vocabulary Acquisition Through Animated Cartoons in Primary Classrooms.” Iram Sleem Malik, with Mohammad Hasan, explored the “Impact of Reciprocal Teaching Strategies on Language Teaching.” Ms. Saritha V. K., with Prof. Dr. Minikutty A., presented on “Artful Insights: Integrating Art with Environmental Science Instruction Among Primary School Students.” Dr. Sangeeta Yaduvanshi discussed the “Pedagogical Paradigm in the 21st Century: Teaching to Learning.” Dr. Taiyaba Nazli concluded with a presentation on “Digital Technologies Emerging as Transformative Pedagogies.”
Session 13: Afternoon 2:30 PM – 3:30 PM
Session 13, hosted by Dr. Silva P. on Platform-3, was chaired by Dr. Vrinda Vijayan, Assistant Professor at the Department of Education (ITEP), Central University of Kerala, Periye, Kasaragod. This session focused on “Collaboration and Community Engagement” and “Ethics and Integrity in Education.” Navya Sri, with co-presenters Revanth Phani Kiran Vasamsetti and Dr. D. Vijaya Lakshmi, presented on “Collaboration and Community Engagement with Radio Vishnu 4.0.” Dr. Manvinder Kaur discussed the “Study of Impact of Community Service Activities Amongst Pupil Teachers of Delhi.” Anagha Priya Shaji, with Devna Pramod, explored “Collaborative Student Engagement Through Teachers.” Neelam Sharma, with Prof. Meena Kumari, presented on “Ethics and Integrity in Education.” Ms. Portia, with Dr. Rainu Gupta, discussed the “Holistic Approach of the Indian Education System.” Sebin Sebastian, with Dr. Roni Jain Raju, presented a study on the “Effectiveness of Subliminal Advertisement Techniques of Coca-Cola on the Purchase Behaviour of Young Adults.” Rimpi Devi concluded the session with a presentation on the “Impact of Leadership Styles on Educational Policy Outcomes.”
Session 14, held in the afternoon from 3:05 PM to 4:30 PM on 2nd August 2024, was specifically organized to accommodate presenters who faced personal or technical issues and were unable to present their papers in their originally scheduled sessions. This session was hosted on Platform-1, chaired by Dr. Naseerali MK, Principal of MITC.
The session included a diverse range of topics. Sreelatha P. discussed the “Issues and Challenges in Transforming Social Media into Educational Platform” under the sub-theme of Digital Transformation in Education. Dr. Priyanka Singh Niranjan presented on “Students Perception’s on Blended Learning,” focusing on Emerging Trends in Pedagogy. M. R. Ramesh explored “Educational Policy and Leadership for Higher Education: Navigating Future Challenges and Opportunities” within the sub-theme of Educational Policy and Leadership. Shahnaz Khan, along with Reena, addressed the sub-theme of Digital Transformation in Education through their presentation on “Digital Transformation in Education.” Kavita Sharma examined “Inclusive and Equitable Educational Practice for Diverse Learners under India’s National Educational Policy 2020,” and Mamta Anil Patil’s presentation focused on “Blending Inclusive Education with Arts Education,” both under the sub-theme of Inclusive and Equitable Education.
This session provided a valuable opportunity for these presenters to share their research and insights, contributing to the overall success and inclusivity of the conference.
Conclusion:
The conference concluded with a session dedicated to sharing feedback from participants and resource persons, reflecting on the overall experience and insights gained throughout the event.
