On August 15, 2026, National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit 344 of M.I. Training College, Ponnani, hosted a vibrant Independence Day celebration featuring a Flag Coloring Competition and cultural performances specifically organized for children from various Anganwadis across the Ponnani coastal belt. The event was designed to instill patriotism and provide a creative platform for young minds from the local coastal community.

​The formal session began with a warm welcome address by NSS Program Officer Ameen Farook, who outlined the objectives of the program and appreciated the enthusiastic participation of the young children and their caregivers. This was followed by the presidential address from Dr. Noufal, Principal of M.I. Training College, who emphasized the crucial role of early childhood engagement and praised the NSS volunteers for organizing an impactful community initiative.

​The event was officially inaugurated by renowned historian Abdurahiman Kutty. In his inaugural address, he highlighted the historical significance of the freedom struggle and stressed the importance of passing down national values and historical consciousness to the younger generation through interactive and celebratory events.

​Following the inaugural ceremony, the kids engaged in a lively Flag Coloring Competition, proudly decorating the national tricolor with great enthusiasm. The venue then came alive with vibrant cultural performances presented by the Anganwadi children, featuring patriotic songs and group dances. The day concluded with prize distribution for the winners and token appreciation for all participants, making the celebration a memorable experience for the Ponnani coastal community.
