MI Training College Ponnani, under Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), in collaboration with the Council for Teacher Education Foundation (CTEF), Kerala, successfully organized a two-day National Conference on “Transforming Teacher Education for Vikasit Bharat 2047: NEP 2020 – Perspectives and Practices” on 14th and 15th May 2026. The conference aimed to explore innovative perspectives, policies, and practices in teacher education aligned with the vision of Vikasit Bharat 2047 and the recommendations of the National Education Policy 2020. The programme brought together academicians, teacher educators, researchers, and students from various institutions to discuss contemporary developments and future directions in teacher education.
The programme commenced at 10.30 AM with a prayer, creating a solemn and inspiring atmosphere for the National Conference on “Transforming Teacher Education for Vikasit Bharat 2047: NEP 2020 – Perspectives and Practices.” The conference began with a welcome address delivered by Dr. Silva P. The presidential address was delivered by Dr. Noufal P, who emphasized the importance of collaborative academic initiatives and innovative approaches in transforming teacher education in line with the vision of Vikasit Bharat 2047 and the objectives of NEP 2020.


The inaugural address was delivered in online mode by Prof. K. K. Abid Hussain Thangal, Member of Legislative Assembly. In his address, he highlighted the significance of quality teacher education in building a progressive, inclusive, and knowledge-based society. He also emphasized the role of educators in shaping socially responsible and innovative future generations.



Following the inauguration, the institutional affiliation handover ceremony with CTEF Kerala was conducted. Dr. Anees Muhammed, Executive Member of CTEF Kerala, formally handed over the affiliation to the Principal of MI Training College Ponnani, marking a significant milestone in strengthening academic collaboration and professional development initiatives in teacher education.

A felicitation was offered by PTA President Praseena ARK, and the vote of thanks was delivered by Sheheena A.M., Assistant Professor, MITC, during the inaugural session.


The keynote address was delivered by Prof. Amruth G Kumar, Professor, Central University of Kerala

The first technical session was handled by Prof. Amruth G. Kumar, Professor, Central University of Kerala, on the topic “Future of Teacher Education in India.” The session began with a welcome address by Soofiya Mol A.S. from the English Department. The speaker discussed the evolving dimensions of teacher education in the context of NEP 2020, focusing on multidisciplinary learning, competency-based education, digital transformation, and the professional development of teachers. The address provided valuable insights into the future possibilities and challenges in teacher education. The session concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Shaneer P.



The second technical session was handled by Dr. Anees Muhammad C., Associate Professor, Farook Training College, on the topic “IKS in Teacher Education.” The session commenced with a welcome address by Sabeeha K. The resource person emphasized the importance of integrating Indian Knowledge Systems, indigenous traditions, and value-based pedagogical practices into teacher education to make learning more culturally relevant and holistic. The session concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Hadya Hussain



The third technical session was conducted in online mode by Dr. Divya C. Senan, Associate Professor, University of Kerala, on the topic “Research Policy and Leadership in Education.” The session began with a welcome address by Abana Amrutha C. The resource person emphasized the importance of research policies, research ethics, and effective educational leadership in promoting academic excellence and institutional development. The session concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Zainul Abida Abdu.

Following the technical sessions, paper presentation sessions were conducted in both online and offline modes. A total of 22 papers were presented by participants on various themes related to teacher education, NEP 2020, educational technology, research, and innovative pedagogical practices. Among the three parallel sessions conducted, two were held in online mode and one in offline mode.
Session I was moderated by Ms. Surya Lakshmi K M, and the session was chaired by Dr. Santhosh Juvvaka.
Session II was moderated by Ms. Aslaha K V, with Dr. Preetha George serving as the Chairperson.






Session III was moderated by Ms. Jahana Shirin, and the session was chaired by Dr. Anees Muhammad C, Associate Professor, Farook Training College.






The paper presentation sessions provided a valuable platform for researchers, academicians, and student teachers to share their ideas, research findings, and innovative perspectives related to contemporary issues in education.
The second day of the conference commenced with an MoU signing ceremony. Dr. Sajan KS, Secretary CTEF and Principal Noufal P formally signed the Memorandum of Understanding and handed it over to T. V. Abdu Rahimankutty, Management Representative, marking an important step towards strengthening academic collaboration and institutional development.



The fourth technical session was handled by Dr. Sajan K.S., Assistant Professor, NSS Training College, on the topic “Transforming Teacher Education through AI, Digital Pedagogy & Data Driven Practices for Vikasit Bharat 2047.” The session began with a welcome address by Surya P. The resource person highlighted the role of Artificial Intelligence, digital pedagogy, and technology-driven practices in enhancing teaching effectiveness and learner engagement in modern education. He also familiarized the participants with various AI tools and their practical applications in teaching, learning, research, and academic administration. The session concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Jahana Shirin.



The fifth technical session was conducted in online mode by Dr. Sameer Babu M., Associate Professor, Jamia Millia Islamia, on the topic “Global Models in Teacher Education: Development and Future Concerns.” The session commenced with a welcome address by Nasiba K. The resource person discussed various global practices, emerging trends, and future challenges in teacher education, providing participants with broader international perspectives in the field. The session concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Nidha.


During the valedictory function, the report of the conference was presented by Dr. Ramitha Rahman P.A., IQAC Coordinator. The function also witnessed the announcement of the Best Paper Presenters selected from each paper presentation session in recognition of their outstanding academic presentations and research contributions.


From Session I, the Best Paper Presenter award was presented to Shridevi P. Nayak, Research Scholar, Regional Institute of Education (RIE), NCERT, for the paper titled “Pulling Knowledge from Within: Retrieval Practice as a Brain-Based Teaching-Learning Strategy.” From Session II, the award was presented to Abseera P., Research Scholar, School of Pedagogical Sciences, for the paper titled “A Study on Secondary School Teachers’ Attitude towards Online Learning Platforms for Enhancing Teaching Effectiveness.” From the offline session, the award was presented to P. P. Ajna Sherin, B.Ed. student of MITC Ponnani, for the paper titled “Learning by Doing: Experiential Learning for Effective Science Education.” Certificates were distributed to all paper presenters and participants in appreciation of their active participation in the conference. The programme came to an end with the National Anthem followed by a group photograph session.
