As part of the World Tourism Day celebrations, the Tourism Club of M.I. Training College, Ponnani organised a Quiz Competition on 29 September 2026 at 3:15 p.m. in the Seminar Hall. The programme was organised with the objective of enhancing students’ knowledge and interest in tourism, geographical locations, famous tourist destinations and cultural heritage.
The quiz competition was conducted in an interesting and interactive manner. The participants were presented with questions related to various tourist destinations and geographical locations. An innovative feature of the competition was the use of the Google Earth application, through which participants identified and located places related to the questions before providing their answers.
The integration of Google Earth made the activity more engaging and provided students with an opportunity to apply their geographical knowledge using digital technology. The programme also helped develop students’ geographical awareness, observation skills, digital literacy and interest in tourism.
The winners of the competition were:
- First Prize: Shabanam E
- Second Prize: Nihila Rinu
- Third Prize: Nitha Muhammedkutty
The prizes were distributed to the winners during the Wednesday Assembly. The programme concluded with appreciation to all the participants and the members of the Tourism Club for their active involvement and successful conduct of the event.
The World Tourism Day Quiz Competition was a meaningful activity-based learning initiative that effectively combined tourism education, geographical exploration and digital technology.
