As part of the Gandhi Jayanthi celebrations, MANUSHI – Social Science Club organised a special assembly on 01 October 2026 at M.I. Training College, Ponnani. The programme aimed to commemorate the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi and to promote the values of peace, truth, non-violence, cleanliness and social responsibility among students.
The assembly commenced with a prayer led by Aparna P V and Shabnam E, invoking peace, harmony and goodwill. This was followed by the pledge, led by Ameer. Thasni presented the news, highlighting important national and international events. The Thought of the Day was presented by Safvana A M, followed by the Holy Thought presented by Amrutha K P.



As part of the Gandhi Jayanthi celebration, MANUSHI conducted a “Picture Detective Competition” for the students. The activity was designed to make the celebration interesting and interactive while encouraging students to observe, identify and recall important personalities, events and symbols associated with Mahatma Gandhi and Gandhi Jayanthi. Two participants from each optional subject participated in the competition. A total of 10 questions were included, and the participants were required to identify the given pictures and answer the related questions.
The winners of the Picture Detective Competition were:
- First Prize: Munsila Banu
- Second Prize: Suhaira
- Third Prize: Ramsiya

Following the assembly and competition, the Principal shared a few words on the significance of Gandhi Jayanthi and the relevance of Gandhian values in contemporary society. The assembly concluded with a vote of thanks to all the participants, students and organisers.
Clean Campus Drive
As a further part of the Gandhi Jayanthi programme, M.I. Training College, Ponnani and NSS Unit No. 344 jointly organised a Clean Campus Drive on 01 October 2026. The activity reflected Mahatma Gandhi’s emphasis on cleanliness and personal responsibility.
The NSS volunteers actively participated in the cleaning activities and worked together to clean the college surroundings. They collected waste from different areas of the campus and contributed to maintaining a clean, hygienic and healthy campus environment.
The activity also created awareness among the volunteers about the importance of cleanliness, responsible waste management and environmental protection. The volunteers demonstrated teamwork, cooperation and social responsibility throughout the activity. After the completion of the cleaning activities, refreshments were provided to the volunteers.
The programme was successfully completed with the active participation and cooperation of the students, NSS volunteers and organisers. The Gandhi Jayanthi celebration effectively combined value-based learning, an interactive educational activity and community-oriented environmental action.
