Ponnani, 30 June 2025: Higher education institutions must actively contribute to social progress and promote self-employment skills among local communities, said Mr. Sivadasan Aattupuram, Chairperson of Ponnani Municipality. He was speaking at the certificate distribution ceremony of the first batch of tailoring training organized by the MI Human Resource Development Centre (MIHRDC) and NSS Unit at MI Training College, Ponnani, exclusively for women from the locality.

He emphasized that achieving the goal of employment for all requires collective and sustained efforts. Institutions of higher education should function in ways that uplift the communities in which they are situated, and this vision is supported by the academic autonomy granted by the UGC, he noted.

Dr. Naseerali M.K., Principal of MI Training College, stated that all educational institutions should implement the vision of “Campus To and For the Society” through meaningful community engagement.

Certificates were distributed to the 36 women who successfully completed the first batch of training. Dr. Silva P., Sukesh T.K., Muhammed Saleem, Anugrah Joshi, and Shameela also spoke during the function.
