The Centre for Social Innovation and Lifelong Learning (CSILL), in collaboration with MITC NSS Unit 344, successfully organized the third session of the “Bridging Education” Expert Talk series on 14 March 2026. The program, held from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Multipurpose Hall, MI Training College, Ponnani, was specifically designed to empower and motivate students from the college’s adopted village.

The keynote session was delivered by Ms. Safana Cheriyakath, a representative of the Delegation of Istanbul International Model United Nations (MUN). As a native of the Ponnani coastal area, Ms. Safana’s presence provided a powerful local connection for the participants. She shared her personal journey from the coastal region to international diplomatic platforms, emphasizing that geographical and socio-economic backgrounds should not be barriers to global success.

Throughout the interactive three-hour session, she focused on bridging the gap between local education and international opportunities. She encouraged the village students to broaden their horizons, introducing them to the concept of MUN and the importance of social innovation. Her talk served as both a motivational guide and a practical roadmap for students to navigate higher education and leadership roles.

This initiative highlights the institution’s commitment to Extension Activities and Institutional Social Responsibility (ISR) under NAAC criteria. By connecting rural students with a global achiever from their own community, the program successfully fostered a sense of aspiration and lifelong learning. The event concluded with an engaging Q&A session, strengthening the bond between the college and its adopted community.
