The Women Empowerment Programme on Soap and Liquid Making was organized by the Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India in association with the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises. The programme was conducted under the joint initiative of the Centre for Social Innovation and Lifelong Learning, MI-HRDC, and NSS Unit 344 at MI B.Ed Training College from 23rd February 2026 to 27th February 2026, beginning at 10 AM each day.
The programme was inaugurated by Smt. Haseena P, Welfare Standing Committee Chairperson of Ponnani Municipality. In her inaugural address, she highlighted the importance of skill development and financial independence for women. The keynote address was delivered by Adv. Majitha, who emphasized women’s rights, legal awareness, and the role of entrepreneurship in achieving empowerment and self-reliance.
The five-day training programme focused on practical and theoretical aspects of soap and liquid product manufacturing. Participants received hands-on training in the preparation of bathing soap, washing soap, and various liquid cleaning products. Sessions also included guidance on raw material selection, safety measures, packaging techniques, branding, marketing strategies, cost calculation, and profit estimation. Information about government schemes and financial assistance for small-scale enterprises was also shared.
The programme aimed to equip women with sustainable livelihood skills and encourage them to start small-scale home-based businesses. Active participation, interactive discussions, and practical demonstrations made the sessions effective and engaging.
The programme concluded successfully with positive feedback from the participants. Overall, the Women Empowerment Programme on Soap and Liquid Making was a meaningful initiative that strengthened entrepreneurial skills among women and promoted economic independence within the community.
