The Women’s Cell of MI Training College, Ponnani, organized a legal awareness class titled “Know the Law, Empower the Women” on October 10, 2025. The program aimed to educate participants on women’s rights, empowerment, and relevant laws, fostering a deeper understanding of legal protections available to women. The session was attended by a large number of students, faculty members, and staff, creating an interactive and enlightening environment. The event commenced at 2:30 PM with a structured agenda, ensuring smooth flow and active participation.
The program was warmly welcomed by Dr. Silva P, the Women’s Cell Coordinator. In her address, she highlighted the importance of legal literacy in empowering women and set the tone for the session by emphasizing the role of education in bridging gender gaps.

Dr. Ramitha Rahman, the College Principal, delivered the presidential address. She underscored the college’s commitment to women’s empowerment through such initiatives and encouraged students to actively engage with legal knowledge to advocate for their rights and those of others.
The chief guest, Adv. Sunitha (Mam), a renowned advocate, delivered an insightful talk on women empowerment and key women-related laws. Her presentation covered essential topics such as the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition, and Redressal) Act, and rights under the Indian Penal Code pertaining to women’s safety. Adv. Sunitha used real-life examples to illustrate how knowledge of the law can be a powerful tool for empowerment, inspiring the audience to become informed citizen.

Following the talk, an open Q&A session was held where a lot of students actively participated. They raised various doubts and queries related to legal scenarios, women’s rights in family matters, workplace equality, and cyber safety. Adv. Sunitha addressed each question comprehensively, helping students clear their uncertainties and gain practical insights.

The program concluded with a vote of thanks by Surya P, the Women’s Cell Student Convenor. She expressed gratitude to the chief guest, speakers, organizers, and participants for making the event a success.
