The 25th episode of the Literary Lens programme, organized by the Literary Club of MI Training College, Ponnani, featured a book review presented by Vidhya, a B.Ed. student of the 2024-2026 batch. The session took place on 2nd November 2024 at 7:30 PM through Google Meet. The focus of the discussion was “Vridha Sadhanam” by T.V. Kochubhava, a poignant work that delves into the lives of the elderly in institutional care.

Vidhya began by providing a brief introduction to the author, T.V. Kochubhava, and his contributions to Malayalam literature. She highlighted the central theme of the book, which critically examines the emotional and societal struggles faced by the elderly in old age homes. Through her presentation, she brought to light the intricacies of relationships, abandonment, and the quest for dignity in the twilight years of life.

The review emphasized the empathetic narrative and the relevance of the book in today’s social context, where elder care often becomes a pressing issue. Vidhya’s analysis of the characters and their psychological dimensions added depth to the discussion, encouraging participants to reflect on their responsibilities toward the elderly.
