The Literary Club of MI Training College, Ponnani conducted Episode 59 of its weekly book review series “Literary Lens” on 25th July 2024. The book reviewed in this session was the Malayalam novel Nashtapetta Neelambari, and the presentation was done by Arafana Safarullah, a B.Ed. Social Science optional student from the 2023–25 batch.
Arafana began the session by introducing the novel and its author. She explained that Nashtapetta Neelambari is a touching story that explores deep emotions, lost love, and the beauty of music and memories. The title itself, which means “The Lost Neelambari” (a raga in classical music), symbolizes the pain of something beautiful that has been lost.
In her review, Arafana focused on the emotional journey of the main characters. She talked about how the author uses music and relationships to bring out feelings of longing, separation, and hope. The story shows how memories and emotions continue to live in the heart even when people and times change.
Arafana also spoke about the language and writing style of the novel. She said the author’s words are poetic and powerful, and they touch the reader’s heart. She shared a few lines from the book that left a strong impact on the audience and explained their meaning in a simple way.
The session ended with a short discussion. Students appreciated the unique theme of the book and Arafana’s well-prepared and heartfelt presentation. The Literary Club thanked her for choosing such a meaningful book and encouraged more students to participate in the upcoming Literary Lens episodes.
