The Literary Club of MI Training College, Ponnani conducted Episode 57 of its book review series Literary Lens” on 12th July 2024. The book discussed in this episode was the Malayalam autobiography Ente Kadha written by Kamala Surayya, also known as Madhavikutty. The review was presented by Riya Jahan, a B.Ed. English optional student of the 2024–26 batch.

Riya started the session by introducing the author. She explained that Kamala Surayya was a brave and well-known writer in Indian literature. Her writings were famous for speaking openly about women’s feelings, love, and identity. Ente Kadha is her life story and is considered a very bold and powerful book in Malayalam.

In her review, Riya said that the author shared her real-life experiences without fear. She talked about her childhood, marriage, dreams, pain, and search for freedom. The book shows the strong emotions and struggles of a woman who wanted to live her life in her own way. Riya shared some touching parts from the book that made the audience think deeply.

Riya also mentioned that the language of the book is simple, but the feelings are strong. The book helps readers understand the inner world of a woman and her journey through life. It is not just a life story, but also a voice for many women who couldn’t speak for themselves.

After the review, there was a small discussion. Many students shared their opinions and appreciated Riya for her clear and confident presentation. The Literary Club thanked her and encouraged more students to take part in future sessions by reviewing good books.
