On 4 September 2024, M.I. Training College (MITC), Ponnani, held a Legal Awareness Class on the theme “Women & Children” to commemorate National Teacher’s Day. The event, organized by the IQAC and Women Cell of MITC, was held in collaboration with the District Legal Services Authority, Manjeri, and the Taluk Legal Services Committee (TLSC), Ponnani, under the aegis of the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA).
The session commenced at 02:30 PM in the MITC Auditorium, chaired by Dr. Naseerali M.K., Principal of MITC. The event opened with a warm welcome address by Sumayya, a Semester 1 B.Ed. student, who greeted the gathering and introduced the resource person, Adv. Sunitha E., Panel Member of TLSC Ponnani.
Following the introduction, Dr. Naseerali M.K. delivered the introductory remarks, setting the tone for the event. He emphasized the importance of legal awareness, especially concerning the rights and protections afforded to women and children under Indian law. His insights provided the audience with a foundational understanding of the session’s significance.
Adv. Sunitha E. then took the stage to deliver her thematic presentation. Her talk focused on the legal provisions in India that safeguard the rights of women and children. She discussed various laws and legal mechanisms in place to protect against discrimination, violence, and exploitation, providing real-life examples to illustrate the impact of these laws. Her presentation was both informative and engaging, making complex legal concepts accessible to the audience.
The session concluded with an interactive Q&A segment, where participants had the opportunity to seek clarifications and discuss issues related to the legal rights of women and children.
