An Anti-Ragging Awareness Class was organized by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of M I Training College, Ponnani, Malappuram, Kerala, in association with the Anti-Ragging Cell and NSS Unit 344. The programme aimed to create awareness among students regarding the Anti-Ragging Act and the preventive measures adopted to ensure a safe academic environment.
The programme commenced with a welcome address by Ms. Sheheena A M, Nodal Officer, Anti-Ragging Cell, who emphasized the importance of maintaining a ragging-free campus and sensitized students about the role of the Anti-Ragging Cell in the institution.
This was followed by the presidential address by Dr. Noufal P, Principal, M I Training College, who highlighted the institution’s commitment to providing a secure and supportive learning environment and reiterated the zero-tolerance policy towards ragging.
The Chief Guest and Resource Person, Sri. Nazeer Thirurkkad, Sub-Inspector, Tirur Police Station, delivered an informative session on the Anti-Ragging Act and Preventive Measures. He explained the legal provisions, consequences of ragging, students’ rights, and the procedures for reporting incidents. The session effectively enhanced students’ awareness about the seriousness of ragging as a punishable offence and the importance of mutual respect and discipline.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Ms. Nandhana P P, Student Representative, Anti-Ragging Cell, who expressed sincere gratitude to the Chief Guest, dignitaries, organizers, and participants for their cooperation and active participation.
As a mark of appreciation, a token of love in the form of a portrait of the guest, drawn by second-year student Nooruniha, was presented to the Chief Guest.
The Anti-Ragging Awareness Class was conducted successfully and proved to be highly beneficial in strengthening students’ understanding of legal responsibilities and in promoting a safe and harmonious campus atmosphere.
