



The Republic Day Celebration was organised by M. I. Training College, Ponnani, under the joint auspices of NSS Unit 344, Social Science Club and West Marine Club on 26 January 2026 with great enthusiasm and patriotic spirit.The programme commenced at the college campus with the ceremonial flag hoisting by the chief guest, Historian Abdul Rahman, in the presence of all students, teaching staff, nonteaching staff and NSS volunteers. The ceremony marked the formal beginning of the Republic Day celebration and reminded everyone of the values enshrined in the Constitution of India.Following the flag hoisting, a patriotic walk was organised from the college campus to Puthuponnani Beach. Students and NSS volunteers participated actively carrying placards with patriotic messages and singing patriotic songs, conveying a strong message of unity and nationalism.After reaching Puthuponnani Beach, the main programme began with a prayer by the College Choir. This was followed by a welcome speech delivered by Mrs. Jasina, First Year student.The Presidential Address was delivered by Dr. Noufal P, Principal, M. I. Training College, Ponnani, highlighting constitutional values and the role of youth in nation building.The Republic Day message was delivered by the chief guest, Historian Abdul Rahman. As part of the programme, a senior citizen above 70 years of age from the local community was honoured in a felicitation ceremony as a mark of respect and gratitude.The felicitation ceremony included Mr. Midlaj Thayyi, Councillor of Ward 45, Mr. Ameen Farook, NSS Programme Officer, and Mrs. Sheheena, Assistant Professor, Social Science.The vote of thanks was delivered by Mrs. Muhsina, First Year student.The cultural segment included a Republic Day speech by Sajeena and a patriotic song by the MI Training College Team. A simple quiz programme was also conducted for children from the surrounding area, and sweets were distributed to the winners.The programme concluded successfully, instilling a sense of national pride, unity and social responsibility among the participants.
