Introduction

The annual Sports Day at MI Training College took place on January 27, 2023, with enthusiastic participation from students, faculty, and staff. This event aimed to foster team spirit, showcase athletic talent, and promote physical fitness among the college community.

Opening Ceremony

The event kicked off with a vibrant opening ceremony at 9:00 AM. The Principal, Smt. Ajitha Kumary, S delivered an inspiring speech emphasizing the importance of sports in overall development and the spirit of healthy competition. The ceremony included a march-past by all the participating houses, followed by the hoisting of the college flag and the lighting of the Sports Day torch. The Chief Guest for the event was RPI Officer Unnikrishnan, a respected figure in the field of public service. In his opening address, Officer Unnikrishnan emphasized the importance of discipline, teamwork, and perseverance, drawing parallels between sports and life.

A variety of athletic events were organized, catering to different interests and abilities. These included:

  1. Outstanding Performances:
    • Sudina from the English Department set a new college record in the 100m sprint, finishing in 10.8 seconds.
    • Midhun from the Physical Science Department won gold medals in both the Shot put and Discus Throw events.
  2. Team Spirit:
    • The Green House emerged as the overall champions, thanks to their consistent performance across multiple events. Their teamwork and coordination were exemplary, particularly in the relay races and team sports.

Closing Ceremony

The Sports Day concluded with a grand closing ceremony. Medals and trophies were awarded to the winners by the Principal and faculties.

Smt. Ajitha Kumary S delivered the closing remarks, thanking the organizing committee, volunteers, and participants for making the event a grand success. The event ended with the lowering of the college flag and the singing of the college anthem.
