The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of MI Training College organized a Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on 29th January 2026 for the teaching faculties of MITC. The topic of the programme was “Digital Competency Development for Teacher Educators.” The programme was arranged to help teacher educators improve their digital skills for effective teaching.

The programme began with a welcome address by Dr. Noufal P, Principal, MI Training College. In his speech, he spoke about the importance of digital knowledge for teachers in today’s education system and encouraged teachers to use technology in teaching.

The FDP session was handled by Dr. Mahamood Shihab K.M, Principal, Ansar Training College, who served as the resource person. He explained the need for digital competency among teacher educators and discussed various important topics related to digital education.

The session covered technological competencies, where the resource person explained how teachers can use digital tools and technology in classrooms. He also introduced the TPACK framework, which explains the connection between technology, teaching methods, and subject knowledge.

Dr. Mahamood Shihab KM also spoke about digital ethics and digital citizenship, highlighting the importance of using technology responsibly and safely. He discussed how teachers can guide students to become responsible digital citizens. The topic of communication and collaboration was also explained, showing how digital tools help teachers and students communicate and work together effectively.

The resource person highlighted the role of teacher educators in training future teachers to use technology confidently. He also discussed the challenges faced by teacher educators, such as lack of digital resources, limited training opportunities, and difficulties in adapting to new technologies.

The FDP was very informative and useful for the participants. It helped the teacher educators understand the importance of digital competency in improving teaching and learning. The programme ended successfully with active participation from the faculty members.
