MI Training College, Ponnani, hosted its grand Onam celebration “Thimruthom 2K24” on the 12th of September with immense enthusiasm and cultural fervor. The event aimed to revive and honor the traditional spirit of Onam, providing students with a platform to showcase their talents and enjoy the festive season with a deep sense of joy and unity.The college campus was beautifully adorned with floral decorations and traditional elements reflecting the essence of Onam. The day began with the preparation of a grand Pookkalam (floral carpet), setting a vibrant and festive tone for the celebrations.

The cultural programs commenced with a traditional lamp-lighting ceremony, followed by the much-anticipated ‘Mega Thiruvathira’ performance, which showcased the graceful elegance of this traditional dance form.The event also featured an array of fun-filled competitions, including Lemon Spoon Race, Musical Chairs, Sundharikku Pottukuthal(beauty contest), Chaakkilottam(sack race), Bottle Filling and vadamvali

Dance performances from various student groups added further color to the event, while the musical presentations of Vanjippattuand Onappattubrought the traditional folk spirit of Kerala to life. These songs, deeply rooted in the Onam festival, uplifted the audience, celebrating unity and joy.

The traditional Onasadhya, a grand feast served on banana leaves, was another highlight of the day. The meal, consisting of a variety of traditional dishes, was thoroughly enjoyed by students, faculty, and guests alike.

The event concluded with a prize distribution ceremony where winners of the various competitions were recognized and awarded.”Thimruthom 2K24″ was a resounding success, leaving everyone with cherished memories and a renewed connection to their culture and heritage.The event’s success was made possible by the dedicated efforts of the student coordinators—Henna Fathima K, Arya T, Adheela, and Shahanas—along with teacher coordinator Sabitha Miss, who guided and supported the students throughout the planning and execution of the celebration.
