Introduction: In commemoration of International Women’s Day, MI Training College, Puduponnani organized two programmes which aimed at fostering self-confidence, motivation, and practical skills for female students. As part of the institution’s commitment to women’s empowerment and inclusivity, these workshops were designed to address various facets of women’s development, including mental resilience and physical safety.

Motivation Class

On March 11th, MI Training College conducted a highly anticipated motivation class as part of its Women’s Day celebrations. The session aimed to provide support, guidance, and mental health awareness to the female students and staff members of the college. Renowned counselling psychologist, Mrs Sithara Ali, graced the occasion with her inspiring words and uplifting anecdotes. The session commenced at 10:30 AM in the college auditorium, where students and faculty members eagerly gathered to partake in the enriching experience.

 Key Highlights

  1. Empowerment Through understanding: Sithara Ali emphasized the importance of understanding one’s emotions and mental well-being. She elucidated how self-awareness can lead to empowerment, especially for women who might face societal pressures and stereotypes
  2. Addressing stigma: The session delved into the stigma associated with seeking counselling or therapy, particularly in certain cultural contexts. Sithara stressed the significance of normalizing conversations around mental health and seeking help when needed.
  3. Building support network: Participants were encouraged to cultivate support networks and open dialogues within their communities. Sithara highlighted the role of peer support and professional guidance in navigating challenges effectively
  4. Mindfulness Technique: Practical exercises focusing on mindfulness and stress reduction were introduced to the attendees. These exercises aimed to equip participants with tools to manage stress and enhance overall well-being
  5. Q & A Sessions: The class concluded with an interactive Q & A session, allowing attendees to seek clarification on various aspects of mental health and counselling. Sithara provided valuable insights and resources for further exploration.

Continuing its dedication to empowering women, MI Training College organized a dynamic self-defence class on March 15th as part of its Women’s Day celebrations. The session, held in the college auditorium, aimed to equip female students and staff members with essential skills and techniques for self-protection in various situations. Led by certified self-defence instructors under the leadership of Mohammed Salih (Chief instructor & examiner – JSKA Malappuram), the class commenced at 10:00 AM and drew a diverse group of participants eager to learn practical strategies for personal safety. The instructors began by emphasizing the importance of awareness and assertiveness in preventing confrontations and de-escalating potential threats. Participants were then introduced to a series of simple yet effective self-defence moves, including strikes, blocks, and releases, designed to neutralize attackers and create opportunities for escape. Through hands-on demonstrations and interactive drills, attendees gained confidence in their ability to defend themselves and respond effectively in challenging situations.
