An educational tour is not just a break from routine but a learning experience beyond the classroom. MI Training College, Ponnani, organized a week-long tour for students, offering them an opportunity to explore India’s rich heritage, historical landmarks, and diverse cultures. The tour spanned from 17th February 2024 to 24th February 2024, covering major destinations like Agra and Delhi.

This journey was a blend of history, architecture, cultural insights, and travel experiences, making it an unforgettable educational excursion.

Day 1: 17th February 2024 – Gathering at Tirur & Departure

The tour officially began with all participants gathering at Tirur Railway Station. Students and faculty were filled with excitement as they prepared for the journey. After a final headcount and briefing by faculty members, the group boarded the train, marking the beginning of their adventure.

Day 2: 18th February 2024 – Train Journey (Mangala Lakshadweep Express)

The group continued their travel by Mangala Lakshadweep Express, departing Tirur at 4:30 PM towards Agra. The train journey was an opportunity for students to bond, engage in discussions, and enjoy the scenic landscapes passing by.

  • Interactive activities such as quiz games and storytelling sessions were organized.
  • Faculty members shared insights on Agra’s and Delhi’s historical importance, preparing students for the upcoming experiences.

Day 3: 19th February 2024 – Arrival in Agra & Sightseeing

The group reached Agra, a city renowned for its Mughal-era monuments. The day’s itinerary included visits to:

1. Agra Fort

  • A UNESCO World Heritage Site, known for its massive red sandstone walls.
  • Students explored its courtyards, palaces, and historical significance.

2. Taj Mahal

  • The symbol of love, built by Shah Jahan in memory of Mumtaz Mahal.
  • Students were captivated by its marble architecture, intricate carvings, and historical tales.

Day 4: 20th February 2024 – Exploring Delhi: Red Fort & Jama Masjid

Leaving Agra, the group proceeded to Delhi, the heart of India’s history and culture.

1. Red Fort

  • One of the most iconic Mughal forts, known for its massive walls and historical significance.

2. Jama Masjid

  • One of the largest mosques in India, built by Shah Jahan.
  • The group admired its grand domes and peaceful atmosphere.

Day 5: 21st February 2024 – Qutub Minar, Lotus Temple, Akshardham & Shopping

1. Qutub Minar

  • The tallest brick minaret in the world, an architectural wonder from the Delhi Sultanate period.

2. Lotus Temple

  • A Bahá’í House of Worship, known for its lotus-shaped architecture and serene ambiance.

Akshardham Temple

  • A modern architectural marvel, featuring intricate carvings and a spectacular light show

Raj Ghat

Raj Ghat is a memorial dedicated to Mahatma Gandhi, located in Delhi. It is a simple yet powerful black marble platform marking the site of his cremation on January 31, 1948. Visitors experience a serene atmosphere, reflecting on Gandhi’s contributions to India’s freedom movement.

4. Shopping in Delhi

  • Students enjoyed exploring local markets, buying souvenirs, traditional clothing, and handicrafts.

Day 6: 22nd February 2024 – Return Journey Begins

After days of exploration, the group boarded the train for the return journey, carrying memorable experiences with them.

Day 8: 24th February 2024 – Arrival at Tirur & Dispersal

After an enriching and exciting journey, the group arrived back at Tirur Railway Station, marking the end of the tour. Students returned home with a new perspective on history and culture.

Conclusion

The tour was an educational and cultural success, providing students with:
