The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of MI Training College, Ponnani, organized the Deeksharambh: Student Induction Programme for the new batch of 2024-2026. The programme, themed SAGE – SOCIALISING, Associating, Governing, and Experiencing, was planned for one week, from July 22 to July 26, 2024.

Day 1: Inauguration Ceremony

The inaugural event for the new batch took place on July 22, 2024, at the college auditorium. The event saw enthusiastic participation from the students and their guardians. Welcome note was given by senior faculty member, Mr.Ameen Farook. The inauguration was conducted by AM Abdussamad, Secretary of MI Association, Ponnani. Dr. Naseerali MK, Principal of MI Training College, presided over the event and delivered a speech highlighting the significance of the teaching profession, along with the various opportunities and challenges it presents. He provided an outline of the activities included in the teacher education programme.

Introduction of the ‘Iqra’ Initiative

The commencement of the new batch’s classes was marked by the introduction of a unique initiative called ‘Iqra’. As part of this initiative, each new student brought a book that inspired them and introduced themselves by sharing touching lines from their selected book. This initiative aims to foster a reading habit and enhance wisdom among the teacher students, in addition to developing other skills.

Students are expected to present reviews of these books at the ‘Literary Lens’ event, conducted by the Literary Club of MITC every Friday at 7:30 PM. VKM Shafi, Honorable Senate Member of the University of Calicut, officially launched the ‘Iqra’ initiative. He praised the initiative as one of its kind and emphasized its potential to be implemented in other teacher education programs.

Faculty Introductions

All teaching faculty members introduced themselves and provided an overview of the subjects they teach. This was followed by the new students introducing themselves, aligning with the objectives of the ‘Iqra’ initiative.

Cultural Performance and PTA Meeting

To extend a warm welcome to the new batch, senior students presented a vibrant welcome dance. Additionally, a parents’ meeting was conducted, during which new office bearers for the PTA were elected.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Neethu, a student from the senior batch, expressing gratitude to all participants and organizers for making the inauguration a grand success.

The Deeksharambh: Student Induction Programme set a positive tone for the academic journey of the new batch, fostering a sense of community and excitement for the activities planned in the coming week.
