The National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit at MI Training College, Ponnani, was officially sanctioned with funding through an order issued by the State NSS Officer on 31st December 2024. This milestone was announced by the Principal on 1st January 2025 during the inaugural meet of MI-HRDC, marking a new era of community engagement for the institution.
The official inauguration of the newly approved NSS Unit took place on 13th February 2025 at the MITC Auditorium. The event was graced by the presence of Dr. R.N. Ansar, State NSS Officer, who delivered an insightful address, emphasizing that NSS activities should not be seen as an additional burden by teachers or students. Instead, he highlighted that real learning happens beyond the confines of classrooms, reinforcing the importance of experiential and community-based learning. The session was presided over by Principal Dr. Naseerali M.K., further reaffirming the institution’s commitment to service-oriented education.
Following the establishment of the unit, Mr. Ameen Farook was entrusted with the additional charge of First Programme Officer, ensuring the effective coordination of NSS activities. To lead student engagement, Ms. Nandana M was appointed as the First Student Coordinator of the unit.
The NSS Unit at MITC actively organizes various social outreach programs, including environmental initiatives, literacy drives, health awareness campaigns, and community service projects. Through these activities, the unit aims to cultivate a sense of social responsibility, leadership, and civic engagement among students.
With the successful inauguration of the NSS Unit, MI Training College reaffirms its dedication to fostering socially responsible educators who will contribute meaningfully to society. The unit is set to play a crucial role in shaping students into compassionate and proactive change-makers.
